KOHAT, Feb 26: The Kohat Anti-Narcotics Force seized 96kg fine quality hashish from a truck on the Indus Highway near Lachi grid station on Wednesday night and arrested two persons.

Acting on a tip off that an attempt would be made to smuggle drugs from the tribal areas to Punjab, ANF Assistant Director Mohammad Iqbal Khan started checking suspicious vehicles on the Indus Highway.

During checking of a truck (PRF-8921) 96 kilograms of hashish was recovered from its secret cavities. The ANF registered a case against Wajid Shah and Tariq Shah, residents of Jangle Khel, Kohat, and has initiated investigations.

In another case, customs officials confiscated 1,500 yards of smuggled cloth from a Karachi-bound bus (E-3747). But no arrest was made because under the customs act an FIR could not be registered in cases where the quantity of cloth is 1,500 yards or less. The driver and cleaner of the bus were allowed to proceed.
