SUKKUR: Three given life term

SUKKUR, Feb 27: The anti-terrorism court-III judge, Naimatullah Phulpoto on Friday sentenced three accused to undergolife imprisonment twice in a kidnapping for ransom case.

The judge convicted accused Imam Ali, Ghulam Shabbir and Rahim Dad Narejo on the charge of kidnapping Amjad Ali from the limits of Bindi police station in Nawabshah district.

The court ordered to forfeit their properties worth Rs200,000 each.The accused kidnapped Amjad Ali in 2003 when he was at work at his land and demanded that Rs1,500,000 should be paid for his release.

Anwar Ali, the brother of the kidnap victim, lodged an FIR with the Bindi police who after a brief encounter arrested three accused and recovered the hostage. The police recovered two Kalashinkov rifles and one rifle from them.

KILLED: A man was killed by armed men in Thull when he offered resistance to them on Friday. Noorudin and Mohammed Qasim were going to village on motorcycle when bandits at the Thull railway crossing kidnapped both of them. When the hostages offered resistance, the bandits opened fire as a result Nooruddin was killed and Qasim injured.
