GUJRANWALA, March 3: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal denies it has nominated aspirants for the local bodies by-polls. This was stated by MMA district secretary-general and Jamaat-i-Islami district amir Allama Obaidul Rehman Madni while speaking at a meeting here on Wednesday.
They said the local bodies elections were held on non-party basis and the MMA would take action against those elements who got published the news regarding the nomination of aspirants. He said the MMA was united and no conspiracy could be succeeded in creating a rift among the component parties.
FLOUR: A high-level meeting stressed the need to ensure the provision of flour in the market. The meeting was presided over by provincial Transport Minister Chaudhry Shamshad Ahmad Khan while the district coordination officer, district officer (Revenue), district food controller and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
The minister claimed that there was no flour shortage in the district as sufficient stock of wheat was available. The meeting was informed that at least 18,300 coupons had been distributed among the destitute for the provision of flour under the Punjab chief minister's sasta atta scheme. While a list of some 1,304 employees from scale No 1 to 15 of 23 government departments had been completed.
