DADU, March 3: An unscheduled load shedding affected business activities and office works in Dadu town on Wednesday. The power supply remained suspended for hours in major areas including Pir Illahi Bux colony, Gharibabad, Kumbhar Mohalla, Memon Mohalla, Surhio Mohalla, Wadhan Shah, Station road, Shahi Bazar and union council-1.
The consumers told newsmen in the press club that Hesco officials were creating artificial faults in the main transformers of the town. They alleged that officials provided electricity illegally to some influential people and to cover these illegal supplies, they cut the supply to residents.
They said electricity meters were installed at the main electric polls but some officials resorted to enter the houses on the pretext of meter checking.
INJURED: Some ten people were injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute in Sonmiani village near Dadu on Wednesday. The two groups used axes and clubs. Six of ten injured were admitted to the civil hospital Dadu.
The condition of Rizwan, Usman, Ghulam Mohammad, Zulfiqar, Mohammad Hayat and Nazeer Mallah was stated to be serious. The Dadu town police registered a case against 11 people of both groups.
KILLED: A youth, Imtiaz Khaskheli, 18, was killed under the wheels of a tractor in Thano Bola Khan on Wednesday.
NO-TRUST MOVE: Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors, belonging to the People's Party Parliamentarians-backed Awam Dost Panel, held a meeting here on Wednesday to discuss the issue of no-confidence motions.
The meeting was held at the residence of Dadu Taluka Nazim Syed Zafar Ali Shah. Talking to journalists after the meeting, PPP MNA Rafiq Ahmad Jamali said Dadu Ittehad Panel members were planning to table no-trust motions against ADP Nazims and Naib Nazims but they would not succeed. He said District Nazim Malik Asad enjoyed support of majority of Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors.
TOURISM: Sindh minister for tourism and culture, Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani, has said that the funds for cultural, historical and tourist sites will soon be released.
He said that more facilities would be provided to foreign tourists in the province. He was speaking at a meeting of Nazims and officials of different departments at circuit house here the other day.
DCO Aijaz Mangi briefed the minister that development work at the hill station was going on and repair work on other historical places like Khudabad Masjid and Rani Kot would soon be initiated.
