RAWALPINDI, March 5: School teachers will once again launch a protest movement from March 10 for the acceptance of their demands, the teachers' representatives told Dawn.

The protest is being held under the auspices of the Punjab Teachers Union.

The union president Raja Zafeer Ahmad Satti said the teachers won't back out from their demands for which they had been struggling for the last many years. He said the government had let them down by not solving their problems. "We had been assured that our demands would be accepted when we launched the protest campaign but there is no headway so far," he added.

Mr Satti said the teachers' demands include acceptance of time scale, i.e. giving promotions or move-over to teachers after the passage of mandatory period, abolishing the contract system introduced by the government.
