GUJRANWALA, March 9: A contractor was shot dead while his three children were injured by his cousins near Ghakhar Town on Tuesday. Reports said Riaz Malhi, Faisal Malhi, Mahmood Gill and Mustafa on two motorcycles opened fire at Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad Malhi near grid station when he was going to drop his children to a school in Ghakhar Town in his car (No LRV 1797).

Manzoor died on the spot while Samina (10), Saad (8) and Hasan (6) were injured. The condition of Hasan was stated to be serious at hospital. Family said that Manzoor was a contractor of Punjab cattle markets and had constructed a bungalow in his native village Badoki Gosian some few months ago. Ghakhar police registered the case against the accused who were at large.

FOUND DEAD: A youth was found hanged in an under-construction house in Aroop area on Tuesday. Police said that Asif was abducted by some unidentified men from Safdar Colony a few days ago. Further investigations are under way.

PROBE: The Customs collector has initiated inquiry against an inspector on the directive of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) chairman.

Amjad Rafiq of Gobind Garh had lodged a complaint with CBR chairman that Customs Inspector Sahibzada Usman Azad received bribe from him for the release of his electronic goods and cloth seized near Wazirabad during checking a week ago. The Customs collector will record the statements of Inspector Azad and Amjad on Wednesday (today).
