GUJRANWALA, March 19: A raiding team, led by special judicial magistrate, arrested on Friday four stage artistes on the charge of promoting obscenity.
However, the stage performers were set at liberty when a special judicial magistrate accepted their bail applications. The magistrate ordered them to deposit surety bonds worth Rs500,000 each.
ACQUITTAL: An additional district and sessions judge acquitted three women, who were charged with murder, here on Friday. According to the prosecution, Irshad Begum, Gulban Shahzadi and Gulshan Shahzadi poisoned Mansoor Ahmad over some dispute at Phaloki village in Wazirabad two years ago. The police arrested them and submitted chargesheet against them to the sessions court.
BYPOLLS: The Election Commission has finalized arrangements for the local bodies' bypolls and established 240 polling stations and 983 booths for 29 union councils on Friday.
The elections are going to be held for nine seats of union council Nazims and 80 seats of general councillors. Meanwhile, District and Sessions Judge Riazul Hassan deployed 1,966 polling officers and assistant polling officers.
