KASUR, March 25: Four robbers shot dead a tractor driver on resistance and took away cash in Khara village, Mustafabad, on Thursday. Police said Maqbool, a resident of Yousaf Shah Town, Kasur, was on his way to Khara by his tractor-trolley.

The robbers intercepted him near the village and snatched Rs2,250 in cash and a wrist watch. Maqbool put up resistance and one of the robbers opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. olice have removed the body to the Kasur DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

BYPOLLS: Sardar Farooq Akbar Dogar was declared elected unopposed Nazim of Aulakh Autar rural union council No 20 on Thursday. Meanwhile, the local election commission officials have completed all arrangements for polling in the by-election to 22 union councils on March 28.

It has set up 239 polling station and 826 polling booths. Polling will be held for eight seats of Nazims, five Naib Nazim, 13 councillors, 10 women, three male farmers, 12 female farmers and eight minority.
