HYDERABAD, March 31: Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro has said Dr Nabi Bux Khan Baloch is a pioneer in the field of education in Pakistan.

Speaking as chief guest at the launching ceremony of two books - A National System of Education and Education of Teachers by Dr Baloch and Social Linguistics of Sindhi by Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio-, he said Dr Baloch had played a key role in the development of Sindhi language and character building of society throughout his life.

The function was organized by the faculty of social sciences, University of Sindh, at the Institute of Sindhology on Tuesday. He said education was necessary for development of a country.

Lauding efforts and services of Dr Baloch, Mr Soomro said scholars who contributed to the betterment of society earned respect and love of their people.

He said research work on education in the shape of books would be helpful in promotion of education from lower to higher level. About the book of Dr Bughio, the Senate chairman said the author deserved appreciation for his research work on the Sindhi language.

In his remarks, Sindh University vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui appreciated Dr Baloch and Dr Bughio for their services. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Baloch said education played an important role in the development of nations.

Noted historian Dr Hamida Khuhro presented a review about importance of the book of Dr Baloch. She said universities were judged by their publications and the quality of research work.

Referring to the book of Dr Bughio, she said it was a survey of language. The publisher of the book of Dr Baloch, Prof Mohammad Yousuf Shaikh of the Sindh Institute of Policy Studies, Larkana, Dr Bughio, Dr Habibullah Siddiqui, M. H. Panhwar, Dr Rafia Ahmad Shaikh, Zulfiqar Halepoto and others also expressed their views on the occasion.
