HYDERABAD, April 5: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the people of Sindh are fortunate that they have the shrines of mystics like Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. He was talking to reporters after inaugurating the 260th Urs celebrations of Shah Latif in Bhit Shah near here on Monday.

The governor said that the people of Sindh would continue to derive benefit from his teachings and poetry till eternity. He said that funds announced by the Sindh chief minister for renovation of the shrine of Shah Latif would soon be released.

Earlier, the governor laid floral wreaths and a chadaron the shrines of Shah Latif and his father Shah Habib and offered fateha. He was accompanied by Sindh Minister for Aquaf, Zakat, Ushr, Religious/Minority Affairs Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, Sports Minister Qamar Mansoor, Culture Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimi and Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman.

Dr Ibad inaugurated agricultural and industrial exhibition where many a department had set up stalls. He also inaugurated a livestock exhibition and visited stalls. Dr Magsi presented Ajrak and Sindhi cap to the governor.

The minister told journalists that Rs250 million, announced by the Sindh chief minister last year, were being released for the renovation and extension of the shrine. He said that renovation of the main graveyard and rest house and establishment of a research and publication cell would also take place from the funds.
