LARKANA, April 8: Taluka Nazim Aijaz Junejo, who was unseated through a no-confidence motion on April 6, filed on Thursday a petition in the Sindh High Court, Larkana bench, challenging his removal. His counsel said that the Larkana District Council at its session on April 1 had rejected a non-confidence motion against the taluka Nazim and under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2001, another no-trust move could not be tabled against the Nazim in 12 months.
He said that of 21 members of the Dokri Taluka Council, 11 members were shown to have voted in favour of the motion but he claimed that two of them, Akbar Lakhir and Bashir Noonari, were not eligible voters.
He prayed the court to declare the no-confidence motion illegal. The petition would come up for pre-admission arguments on April 9.
KILN WORKERS: The Khaksar Mazdoor Federation took out a procession from the Gajanpur locality here on Thursday against kiln owners for denying workers fixed salary and benefits.
Talking to this correspondent, Tariq Mughal, who led the protest, said that kiln owners were not only refusing to pay Rs200 to workers for making 1,000 bricks but also not depositing their old age benefit amount and social security.
The protestors demanded that the government should direct the kiln owners to pay salary and benefits to workers. They said only one kiln owner in Larkana was paying salary and giving benefits to workers.
