HYDERABAD, May 4: Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated with religious fervour here on Monday. Processions were taken out in different parts of the city. All main roads, streets and places were decorated with colourful lights and flags.
The main procession was taken out by the Anjuman-i-Fidayan-i- Rasool whereas the main meeting was held at the Kohinoor Chowk by the Jamaat-i-Ahl-i-Sunnat. Former MNA Usman Noori, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput, City Taluka Nazim Moin Shaikh and others spoke on the occasion.
Speakers at various gatherings highlighted the message of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Noted scholar Prof Mufti Munibur Rehman urged people to become true followers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) by adhering to his teachings.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement set up at a two-day reception camp at the Station Road. Sindh Minister Health Naeem Ishtiaq, MNA Shamim Akhtar, MQM MPAs Dr Arshad Shah and Farzana Saeed and zonal committee members welcomed processions. The city however witnessed worse traffic jams as police failed to make arrangements for smooth flow of traffic.
DEMO: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday, demanding release of party leaders and withdrawal of cases against them.
They said that imprisonment of party leaders Zafar Korejo, Kehar Ansari, Munawar Jamali and Waheed Soomro could not force them to give up their struggle for people's rights. They alleged that the leaders were being tortured in jails.
BY-POLLS: The Anjuman Khanzada Rajput Pakistan has announced that it will support the Muttahida Qaumi Movement candidates in the by-elections being held on May 12. The announcement was made by the central secretary-general of the organization, Professor Kafeel Ahmed Khanzada, while talking to various delegations that called on him here on Saturday.
He said that the community members had already been asked to vote for the MQM candidates who were contesting for the four national and two provincial assembly seats.
RECRUITMENT: The Army Selection and Recruitment Centre, Hyderabad,has announced that except for gazetted holidays, recruitment would continue at the centre up to May 31.
