RAWALPINDI, May 5: A 6th class student was killed while his two cousins were shot and injured in the New Town area on Wednesday, police said. Imran Khan, 10, was leaving for school when Raja Javaid and Raja Farooq allegedly opened fire on him. The two attackers had a brawl with Imran's father, Javaid Ali, on Tuesday.

Imran's cousins - Zaheer and Munir - came out of the house when they heard screams of the boy, who was hit by a bullet. They tried to stop the accused but were also fired upon. The three persons received bullet injuries and were shifted to the hospital where Imran died.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (New Town Circle) Ehsan Abbas told Dawn that Javaid Ali had given refuge to a maid and asked the accused not to tease the woman. This resulted in differences between the two parties, he added.

A reporter from Islamabad adds: A man committed suicide at his house in Sector G-6/4 on Wednesday, police said. The deceased, Bilal Sarfraz, 22, shot himself with a double barrel rifle in the forehead.

The father of the deceased, Sarfraz Hussain Shah, told the police that his son was mentally upset for the last five months. He said it was a suicide incident and requested that he did not want to get the body examined.

However, Assistant Commissioner Zafar Iqbal ordered an autopsy. Meanwhile, a girl was killed when a bullet accidentally fired by a security guard, Amir, hit her in Sector I-10/2. The incident occurred when the two and a half years old Munawer Bibi was playing outside her house. The girl was taken to the Holy Family Hospital where she died.
