HYDERABAD, May 10: Employees of Sindhi Adabi Board staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday to protest against the non-payment of their salaries by the education department and Sindhi Adabi Board.
Talking to newsmen, Ali Nawaz Bhatti, Allah Bux, Mohammad Rahim and others said that 36 senior employees of the board who had completed 25 years of service had been placed in the surplus pool and sent to the education department.
They complained that out of these employees, 17 employees were to be adjusted by the EDO education Hyderabad. They said that they were posted at various schools of the district but then all of a sudden the appointment orders of nine employees were withdrawn.
They said that even the other eight employees were not being paid their salaries. They complained that they were now running from pillar to post but neither the board nor the education department was prepared to accept them.
They said that on the other hand 20 persons had been appointed by the board on daily wage basis. They appealed to authorities to readjust them in the Sindhi Adabi Board and ensure payment of their salaries. They also demanded that a judicial inquiry should be held into the matter.
RETIRED EMPLOYEES: Retired employees of the defunct Hyderabad Municipal Corporation staged a demonstration under the banner of Employees Welfare Association city councils outside the city TMA office on Monday.
They were protesting against the non-payment of their pensions and gratuity by the three taluka councils. Speaking on the occasion, leaders of the association, Sagir Rajput, Iqbal Shah and others said that the City, Qasimabad and Latifabad taluka councils had failed to disburse pensions to the retired employees for March and April 2004.
They said that their families were starving. They said that they had not been paid their gratuity. They demanded that their pensions and gratuity should be paid to them without delay.
PML-Q: The Pakistan Muslim League-Q and the Muslim Students Federation took out a procession here on Saturday and staged a rally outside the press club to celebrate the appointment of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as the central president and Ali Mohammad Mahar as the provincial president of the united PML.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-Q joint secretary Chaudhry Mazharul Haq said that the merger of factions of the PML had infused new spirit in party activists. City PML-Q president Nasir Baloch said that no conspiracy would be tolerated against Mr Mahar.
The rally adopted a resolution, condemning the Karachi carnage and demanding arrest of the culprits. The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, has announced that paper of oral anatomy and tooth morphology, second professional BDS examinations, earlier scheduled for May 10, would be held on May 17.
SPSC: The Sindh Public Service Commission here on Thursday announced results of written test conducted for the post of assistant sub-inspector (computer), police department.
