PESHAWAR, May 11: Officials of the Federal Investigation Agency on Tuesday offloaded a former member of the Central Board of Revenue, Abdul Hamid Khan, from a Dubai-bound flight at the Peshawar International Airport.

The FIA officials said that his name was on the Exit Control List and he could not leave the country.

Mr Khan claimed he was allowed by the Peshawar High Court to visit abroad for medical treatment. He said the FIA had been violating orders of the high court. On Tuesday, Mr Khan boarded a flight EK 634 of the Emirates Airlines bound for London via Dubai.

The inspectors of FIA, Qazi Hamid and Tayyab Khan, spotted Mr Khan and found that Mr Khan's name was in the ECL. They said the accused had not informed the interior ministry about orders of the high court and that was why his name could not be struck out of the ECL.

Mr Khan, who had served on various key posts including commissioner and deputy commissioner in different districts, has been facing a trial by an accountability court in a reference relating to possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
