NAWABSHAH, May 12: The executive engineer of the Dad irrigation division announced on Wednesday that a rotation programme had been started after a shortage of water in the Rohri Canal.

He said that in the first phase, Manharo, San, Pabjo, Sujawal, Jamal Shah, Jan Mohammad and Waryam water channels would be opened from May 12 to 20. Whereas in the second phase Bilawal Zardari, Rein, Attar, Khair Shah, Khadar, Shahbaz and Batho water channels would remain open from May 20 to 28.

DEMO: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation, Quaid- i-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology unit staged a protest demonstration against the university administration on Wednesday.They also boycotted the classes.

Speaking on the occasion, JSSF president Mansoor Banglani accused the administration of misappropriating the funds of poor students. He demanded that the health centre which was given to Rangers should be vacated and a doctor be appointed there.

MEETING: District Nazim Faryal Talpur presided over a meeting of Village Development Associations (VDA) at Darbar hall here on Tuesday. The nazim asked the VDA representatives to send progress reports regularly to her as well as to the taluka nazims.

RALLY: Dozens of activists of the Jafria Alliance staged a protest demonstration at Shiraz Chowk on Tuesday demanding the arrest of culprits involved in the Karachi mosque blast. The protesters said that government had failed to control law and order situation.
