SIALKOT, May 19: Science and mathematics teachers have not been appointed for 2,500 students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Badiana, Pasrur tehsil, since its upgradation 10 years back.
People of the area, led by Javaid Ghuman, have strongly protested over the slackness of the education department authorities. The protesters told newsmen that the school had been upgraded to higher secondary level a decade ago and since then no science and maths teachers had been appointed.
Besides, they said, 26 different vacancies of teachers had also been lying vacant for the last several years. They have urged Sialkot district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid to look into the matter.
SWIFT CENTRE: The newly-established swift registration centre of National Database and Registration Authority has started functioning at Daska. The centre will issue computerized ID cards to one million population of the tehsil.
Prices: People have expressed concern over the prices of chicken and eggs, which soared to Rs120 to 125 a kilogram and Rs34 a dozen in the markets here on Wednesday.
They attributed the continuous increase in prices of chicken and eggs since the end of Bird Flu crisis to a lack of checks and balance in the concerned department of the district government. They urged the district Nazim, Mian Naeem Javaid, to take early and effective steps for bringing down the prices.
