SAHIWAL, May 20: The Punjab home department on Thursday issued orders for a 90-day detention of the PML-N district president and the divisional coordinator under 3-MPO. The period would start from the date of arrest of Malak Nadeem Kamran. He had reportedly gone into hiding on May 13.

Talking on cellular phone from an unknown place, Mr Kamran vowed to continue his struggle for democracy. He said the PML-N would observe Youm-i-Takbeer on May 28 to commemorate the anniversary of nuclear explosions.

HELD: Police on Thursday arrested a younger brother of the PML-Q district vice-president under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). Reports said a court bailiff recovered an abducted girl from Chak 113/7-R.

Gul Muhammad Kathia, brother of Sarfraz Ahmed Kathia, beat up the officials and took the girl away. The police, on the report of the bailiff, registered a case under Sections 354, 427, 186, 148, 149 of the PPC and 7-ATA.
