HYDERABAD, May 25: The Hyderabad District Council on Tuesday expressed concern over the failure of the EDO, revenue, to provide details of movable and immovable properties of the defunct district council.

Presiding officer Syed Ali Mohammad Shah asked the EDO, revenue, Aftab Memon, to resolve the issue in consultation with the members. Rana Mehmood Ali Khan, Qazi Qadeer, Yusuf Qureshi, Q. Hakim and others criticized district government officials for not submitting relevant details.

After the EDO, revenue, said that he would give details of his department but EDOs of other departments should also be asked by the DCO or the council for the details, the members said that the EDO, revenue, was supposed to provide the details under the new devolution system.

Mr Khan said that the EDO, revenue, should have written to the DCO that other EDOs were not cooperating with him in preparing the details. He said that Rs800,000 was shown as revenue income in the last budget which indicated that record of properties was available.

Yusuf Qureshi said that no record was prepared at the time of dissolution of the district council. Discussing the water crisis, Q. Hakim, called for utilization of the Rs5 million emergency fund lying with the district Nazim and Rs200,000 of the Rs40 million non-development fund of each union council on installing hand pumps.

He said that the remaining amount should be given to the Water and Sanitation Agency for utilization on sewerage and water supply schemes.
