SUKKUR, May 31: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Adilpur town on Monday against the undeclared loadshedding by Hesco.

The residents of the town also took out a protest procession and held a public meeting in which they demanded that Hesco SDO Ghotki Raj Kumar should be dismissed.

Speaking on the occasion, Jam Asif Dharejo, Liaqat Gadani and others said that the People's Party would take up the matter in parliament. Meanwhile, a protest demonstration was held by Wapda employees outside the Sukkur press club on Monday against an attack on Wapda employees in Ghotki in which a lineman was injured.

It might be recalled that nine people including four Hesco employees were injured in firing and stone pelting between the consumers and Hesco employees in Ghotki following the firing by SDO Hesco Ashfaq Abbasi on the peaceful protesters who were protesting against the unnecessary and undeclared loadshedding in Ghotki and Adilpur and other villages on Friday.

More than five hundred people, led by PPP leader Asif Ali Dharejo, staged a protest demonstration outside Hesco office and demanded that SDO Hesco Raj Kumar should be terminated. The enraged protesters entered the office of Hesco and broke the furniture and glasses of the office.

In the meantime, Ashfaq Abbasi opened fire to disperse the protesters. The firing took place from the two sides while scuffle also took place as a result nine people including four Hesco employees were injured.

KILLED: A man was killed and two others were injured in an armed clash over a matrimonial dispute in Ghermo village on the Sindh-Balochistan border on Monday.

Karam Ali Bugti and his two relatives were on their way to home in a Tonga when four armed men opened indiscriminate firing, killing Karam Ali on the spot while injuring Ahmed Nawaz and Sher Ali Bugti. The assailants fled after committing the crime.

EMPLOYEE DIES: An employee of the Larkana irrigation department was shot dead by a man near an Eid Gah in the B-section police station jurisdiction, Khairpur, on Sunday morning.

Bashir Ahmad Awan, 35, a cook of the irrigation department, was on his way to home when he was killed. Police took the body to Khairpur Civil Hospital and later handed it over to relatives after postmortem.
