HYDERABAD, June 3: Naib nazim union council-11 Latifabad taluka Farooq Shah and nine councillors have demanded that an impartial inquiry committee should be appointed to probe into the alleged malpractice of the union council nazim.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club on Thursday, they said that a no-confidence resolution was passed against Qayoom Shaikh last year with the overwhelming majority but he had not been removed till date.
They said that out of 17 council members, 14 had voted against the nazim in the no-confidence resolution while three had abstained. They said that alleged corrupt practices of the nazim had been reported to the district nazim, DCO and secretary local government but they had taken no action against him.
They said that after the introduction of district government system no office was allotted to the union council for full one year but the nazim had even charged rent of that period which was a matter of record.
They charged that all the printing work of the council was being done at the personal printing press of the nazim. They said that no accounts had been submitted before the union council. They demanded that the office of the union council which was situated near the house of the nazim should be shifted to some other place.
They warned that if this demand was not accepted, they would be forced to launch a protest movement and the responsibility for the consequences would rest with the authorities concerned. They demanded that the nazim should be removed from his post as no-confidence resolution had already been adopted against him.
They said that they would attend the office of union council on June 15 and added that authorities should ensure that no law and order situation was created because their entry into the office had been illegally banned by the nazim. Mir Mohammad, Waheed Khar, Hamid Ali, Atta Mohammad, Ibrahim Kaimkhani, Shakeel Ahmed, Idrees Khan, Noor Jehan and Gulshan Ara Syed were present on the occasion.
