KARACHI, June 6: Pakistan's fifth seed Imran Shehzad made a triumphant start in the 20th Asian snooker championship in Aqaba Jordan, when he brushed aside Amir Sarkhosh (Iran) 4-0: 63.27, 68/31, 99/12, 95/15.

Representing Pakistan for the first time overseas, Imran continued his winning streak beating Le Trong from Vietnam 4-1: 52/35, 35/48, 54/23, 90/13 and 76/31. Growing in stature, Imran had a splendid clearance of 53 in the forth frame and followed it up with 44 points on the trot in the last.

Pakistan's other representative, former world and Asian champion Mohammad Yousuf, has yet to make his appearance in this tournament. Surprisingly, the team from China failed to make an appearance at the opening ceremony.
