HYDERABAD, June 8: Power supply breakdowns on Tuesday at the Thandi Sarak pumping station of the Hyderabad Development Authority have caused the suspension of water supply to the city.
This was announced by the managing director of Water and Sanitation Agency of the HDA. He said that the water supply would be normalized within two to three days in the affected areas provided there was no further electric breakdown.
WARDS: Under instructions from the district nazim, air-conditioned isolated wards were set up in different hospitals here on Monday. According to the EDO, health, Nazar Mohammad Junejo, a ten-bedded air-conditioned ward each had been set up in Shah Bhitai Hospital, Latifabad, and Qasimabad hospitals.
Special wards had also been set up in the CDF and Paretabad hospitals for the gastroenteritis patients.
PROJECT: The students of the chemical engineering department of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology have completed a project on waste water treatment.
A spokesman for the university said here on Tuesday that the research was conducted by a group of students under the guidance of Professor Syed Farman Ali Shah and Professor Shaheen Aziz Shaikh.
He claimed that in the experiment micro-organism technology had been introduced for the first time in the field of chemical engineering in any engineering university of the country.
He said that during the experiment, water had been collected from the boys' hostels of the university and treated with some solutions. He said that the experiment had proved successful and it had changed waste water into usable water. He said that the technology used in the experiment was not only cheap but also effective for treatment of waste water.
