BAHAWALPUR, June 9: District Police Officer Arif Nawaz claimed on Wednesday that several students of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur, were involved in anti-social activities.
Speaking at a press conference, the DPO expressed concern over the situation at the university and said it was primarily the duty of its administration to keep an eye on such students and their activities, as police could not enter educational institutions and their hostels without formal intimation.
However, he said, he would discuss the issue with the IUB vice-chancellor on his return from Lahore. Answering a question, Mr Nawaz said the district police had recently arrested 27 alleged terrorists wanted in sectarian violence cases.
The police would also launch a one-month campaign against proclaimed offenders from June 15. He said the strength of the police force should be enhanced to check crime. Nearly 900 places, including those for prayers, were under strict vigil, the DPO added.
RESULTS: The Islamia University on Wednesday announced the results of bachelor of homoeopathic medical sciences supplementary examination. According to a notification, some 13 students have passed the examination out of 24.
