SWABI, June 14: The Awami National Party (ANP) would establish women wings of the party in all districts of the province to enable women play a constructive role in the national politics.

This was stated by provincial president of ANP Begum Nasim Wali Khan while speaking at a workers' convention here on Monday. Senior vice-president of ANP Aqil Shah, general secretary Farid Tufan, party MPAs and women workers attended the convention.

Begum Nasim said that matters pertaining to the re-organization of the party were discussed at a recent meeting. "We identified one drawback, which was the reorganization of the party at the district level," she said.

She said in view of the prevailing situation the establishment of women wings was vital as they could play a crucial role in strengthening the party. She said: "If there is a women wing, the party would not face any problem during the election and everything would move according to the plan."

The ANP leader said that chief organizers for women wings would be nominated in the districts to carry out reorganization. The party also named Yasmeen Jasim as the chief organizer for district Swabi. Begum Nasim said the provincial leadership of the ANP would visit all districts to reorganize the party and set up women wings.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Farid Tufan said that religious parties always opposed women's role in politics by declaring that it was against Islam, but the same leaders adjusted their daughters and sisters or other relatives on the seats reserved for women.

ANP district president and former MNA Haji Rehmanullah and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
