DADU, June 15: Power supply to 35 villages in Mehar taluka was suspended on Tuesday due to of non-payment of bills by several consumers.

A Hesco team paid surprise visit to 35 villages , found that several of its consumers had not paid their bills and disconnected power connections of the entire villages.

The affected villages included Hotee Narejo, Ahmedpur, Thorha, Syedpur, Lal Khan Chabro, Malik, Ghulam Hyder, Mari, Gogani Chandio, Bachoo Wahan, Mureed Lakhair and Sattani Chandio.

SUICIDES: Three persons committed suicide in three separate incidents in the district during the last 24 hours ending on Tuesday evening. A farmer, Shahnawaz Solangi, 40, committed suicide by taking pesticide in Kando Wah village on Tuesday after he failed to ensure supply of water to his land.

The area irrigation officials had refused to provide him water for cultivating his land on Monday night. Mr Solangi went to the irrigation office in Mehar on Tuesday and requested the concerned official to provide his land with water but the official paid no heed to his request.

He came back to his house and committed suicide. A jobless man, Manzoor Ghallo, 40, committed suicide by hanging himself in Radhan town on Monday night after he failed to provide his family with food. A youth, Imoo Khaskheli, 22, committed suicide by taking pesticide over a matrimonial dispute in Wazirabad village.

DROWNS: A boy, Sohail Ahmed Mallah, 12, resident of Jan Mohammad Bhatti Mohalla, Sehwan, drowned in the Aral Wah on Tuesday while he was swimming there with his friends. His body was recovered after three hours' hectic efforts.
