FAISALABAD, June 16: The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy has denounced the government for failing to control alarming increase in crime incidence. "There is no writ of law in the province and all its affairs are being run by the chief minister to oblige his favourites," alleged PML-N MPA Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, he said grabbing of state land and allotment of costly properties at nominal rates to the favourites had become the order of the day. He said his party would give a tough time to the government in the Punjab Assembly if the budget was against the interests of the poor.

Meanwhile, PPP District President Rana Farooq Saeed Khan has demanded that the government should step down for failing to run the affairs according to wishes of people.

Presiding over a meeting of different organizations of the party, he said the incidence of heinous crime had become a routine. He criticized the government for announcing collection of television license fees through electricity bills.

SHOT DEAD: A villager shot dead his elder brother over a petty dispute at Chak 132-GB in Dijkot police station precinct on Wednesday. Reports said Muhammad Khan and his brother, Mujahid Husain, quarrelled over some monetary dispute. Khan shot dead Mujahid after a heated argument.
