DADU, July 4: The Sindh additional home secretary has said that the Frontier Constabulary personnel, already posted in some jails, will be deployed in the Dadu district jail and other prisons owing to shortage of prison staff.

However, he added that the recruitment of jail staff would be made soon as the Sindh chief minister had already allowed the said appointments. The official, Syed Anwaar Hyder, accompanied by IG, prisons, Brigr M. A. H. Ayaz Mughni, was briefing journalists at the district jail here on Sunday.

He said that the Dadu district jail was built with a capacity of 70 to 80 prisoners but there were 344 prisoners in it, therefore, a new jail with a capacity of 250 had been built outside the town where the present jail would be shifted soon.

Admitting that the government had allocated a low budget for the prison health sector, he, however, said that the situation could improve if jail officials used the funds properly.

Referring to the recent bomb blasts in the district which destroyed a high transmission power line and the main gas supply line near Sita, he said that those involved in the terrorist acts would be arrested even if they belonged to a political or religious party.

Later, the additional home secretary and the prisons IGP visited different parts of the jail.
