KASUR, July 6: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool has said that the provincial government will not cut the electricity connections of tube-wells during the process of cultivation.
He was listening to public complaints here on Tuesday at the Chunian Wapda Office. Punjab minister for management and professional development Sardar Hassan Akhtar Moakal, district Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, MPAs, including Haji Rana Sarfraz Ahmad Khan, Malik Ahmad Saeed Khan, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan and others were present on the occasion.
Scores of people put forward complaints against Wapda about detection bills, replacement of meters without any reason, voltage shortage and the alleged rude behaviour of the staff. The governor ordered upgradation of the Kanganpur grid station from 66 KV to 132 KV and provision of 25 new transformers.
Mr Maqbool visited the one-window operation for provision of agricultural loans, the national saving centre and the post office. He asked the officials concerned to improve their performance. Later, the governor held an open court at the Changa Manga Rest House and issued on-the-spot orders.
ELECTROCUTED: Two brothers were electrocuted here on Tuesday at Mustafabad village. Sajid Ali was working at his workshop. Suddenly his hand touched a live wire. His brother, Abid Ali, tried to rescue him by holding his hand. Both died on the spot.
ACCIDENT: A man died while 12 passengers sustained injuries as a speeding wagon overturned here on Tuesday at Bhoey Aasal village, Chhanga Manga. Reports said the driver lost control over the Pattoki-bound van (LR-1613) while negotiating a turn as a result it overturned.
The injured were identified as Dilshad Najam, Wasim Ahmad, Sattar Malik, Abdul Majeed, Faqir Shah, Qurban (10), Saima Bibi, Sajida (14), Sadiq, Mehmood Ahmad, Naveed Iqbal, Sarfraz Ahmad and Zahid Maqbool.
