RAWALPINDI, July 14: Two people, including a college student, died in traffic accidents while police found the bodies of two persons on Wednesday.
Police said Yasir Rasheed, 22, a 4th year student at Asghar Mall College, was waiting for transport at Faizabad when a private transport company bus (IDF-7230) coming from Islamabad hit him.
The boy died on the spot. Police have registered a case against the bus driver, who has not yet been arrested.
OUR REPORTER ADDS: A court here on Wednesday awarded 12-year rigorous imprisonment to a person in a drug-trafficking case. Additional district and sessions judge Akram Awan also imposed Rs20,000 fine on the convict, Tanveer Ahmed. In cast, the convict fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo another one-year jail-term.
According to the prosecution, the Westridge police had recovered 3.3kg charas from the convict. Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court sent two sisters to jail in a case of kidnapping for ransom and murder.
Judge Manzoor Ahmed Mirza declared the main suspect, Nasir Mughal, proclaimed offender. The two sisters, Kausar and Kehkashan, told the court that they with the help of Nasir Mughal trapped Faisal Akhtar and one day taken him to a house at Waris Khan area when he was drunk.
Later, through telephone calls, they demanded Rs2 million ransom from Akhtar's family. The family provided them Rs 0.4 million and when was arranging rest of the amount, the kidnappers suspected that they were being identified. On this suspicion, they hanged Akhtar to death and escaped.
A REPORTER FROM ISLAMABAD ADDS: A speedy vehicle ran over a man at Jhangi Syedan. Mohammad Javed, 45, a resident of Haripur, was crossing the road when the incident occurred. He was being shifted to Pims but died before reaching the hospital.
Meanwhile, a CDA gardener, who had been missing for the last two days, was found tortured to death at Pind Bhajwal. The deceased, identified as Mohammad Abid, 38, lived in Bara Kahu. The incident came to light when some passers by saw the body and informed the police. The body was sent to hospital for autopsy.
