SARGODHA, July 15: The Irrigation executive engineer presently working as development director was arrested by the Anti-Corruption regional director on Thursday.

Reports said Nazir Ahmad Dhugal, during his posting in Dera Ghazi Khan, had received illegal gratification from Nazar Husain, but did not redress his grievance even then.

Nazar Husain lodged a complaint with the Dera Anti-Corruption judge who summoned the XEN many times, but he did not attend the court. The judge issued his warrants of arrest. The ACE regional director arrested him on Thursday and confined him in the Cantonment police station. He will be produced before the court on Saturday.

ARRESTED: Three women swindlers of Kanweinwala, Lalian, Jhang district, were arrested here on Thursday. Reports said Sonia, Naghma and Shamim had removed gold ornaments of Samina while travelling in a Mianwali-bound wagon.

ROBBERIES: Highwaymen made off with cash, gold ornaments, valuables and three motorcycles in separate incidents besides injuring two people here on Wednesday night and Thursday.

Two armed men blocked Salim Phulwarwan Road and snatched cash and valuables from vehicle drivers and passengers. They also injured Dost Mohammad on resistance. The injured was taken to the DHQ Hospital where his condition was stated to be precarious.

Three masked robbers blocked the Shahpur-Sahiwal-Tathi Raju Road with a donkey cart and looted cash and valuables from passers by. When a truck driver, Usman, tried to escape, they opened fire on his truck. Later, they looted cash from the people riding the truck and injured Abdul Rehman on resistance.

Three armed men snatched motorcycle from Arshad near Chak 7-SB. Bashir was deprived of Rs12,000 in cash and motorcycle by three dacoits near Chak 75-SB. Five armed men entered the house of Mutali near Bucha Kalan and made off with jewellery and valuables besides a cow.
