HYDERABAD, July 19: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hailed the PIA decision to resume its flights from the Hyderabad airport, saying that the demand of the traders of the region has been accepted.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the president of the chamber, Emad Siddiqui, and senior vice president, Najamuddin Qureshi, expressed the hope that the Pakistan International Airlines would get good business from Hyderabad and the reintroduction of the PIA service would give a boost to investment in the region.

Meanwhile, the chamber has expressed concern over shifting of the marketing and billing office of Sui Southern Gas Company from the Gul Centre to the State Life building.

The president of the chamber, in another statement, said that it was incomprehensible that the company was shifting from its own property to a rented place, which would not only add to its financial burden but also create difficulties for the consumers.

He said that the Gul Centre was situated in the centre of the city where transport was available round the clock, which was not the case in the area of the State Life building.

UNION: The Municipal Staff Union of Hyderabad City taluka beat its rival Workers Union in a referendum for the CBA held here on Monday. The Municipal Staff Union, which is affiliated with the National Labour Federation, bagged 833 while the Workers Union obtained 381 votes.

The third union, the Workers Front, which had at the last moment opted out of the contest, received only three votes. The election was held under the supervision of the assistant director, labour department, Mohammad Bux Joyo.
