HANGU, Aug 1: Two people were killed and 28 others wounded in a powerful explosion in village Darsamand Sarokhel, about 30km from here on Sunday. Eyewitnesses said the explosion occurred at around 4pm during a wedding celebration just when the bride was about to board a car.

The blast was so big that a woman and a child were killed on the spot, while 28 others, mostly women and children were wounded. The bride lost her both legs. The wedding turned into mourning as dead and wounded were rushed to the hospitals in Tall tehsil.

The explosion occurred at the house of Subaidar Adam Khan. Police said they suspected a feud was behind the bombing but had made no arrests so far. A safety pin of a hand grenade was recovered from the site of the occurrence, police said.

Emergency has been declared at hospitals in Tall and doctors said the casualty figure could rise as some of those wounded brought to the hospitals were stated to be in critical conditions. Doaba police have registered a case and further investigation was under way.
