GUJRANWALA, Aug 3: The Baitul Maal committees which were dissolved by the government in November, 2003, have not yet been reconstituted which is causing problems for the destitutes.
Around 16,000 applications were lying pending with the district Baitul Maal office for provision of compensation. A large number of the applicants on Tuesday demanded formation of committees at the earliest.
They said they were facing problems due to non payment of compensation for the last of nine months while the students who were being paid scholarship from the Baitul Maal could not continue their education.
NADRA FEE ENHANCED: The National Database and Registration Authority enhanced the fee for computerized identity card from Rs35 to Rs180 at all district headquarters and issued a notification on Tuesday.
The ID card seekers strongly protested against Nadra decision to enhance fee and demanded its immediate withdrawal. They also demanded that old cards should be declared valid till the provision of computerised ID cards to every citizen.
SUSPENDED: Five police officials, including SHO of Wazirabad city police station, were suspended from service by the district police officer on Tuesday.
The DPO took serious notice of 'undesirable' activities of police officials and suspended them immediately. Those suspended are; SHO Shahbaz Ahmad Cheema, ASI Amjad Saeed, Head Constable M. Munir, Constable Mazhar and driver Muhammad Asif.
