BAHAWALPUR, Aug 10: An inquiry into alleged attestation of the fake death certificate of a 'dacoit' was adjourned for two days when the chief suspect sought time from the committee to explain his stance.
Appearing before the three-member committee, headed by Aftab Ahmad Gudu, Union Council V councillor Mehtab Kausar Bokhari sought time to record his evidence on the issuance of death certificate, which he had attested.
Earlier, the inquiry committee had summoned Mr Bokhari on Aug 9 (Monday), but the inquiry could not be conducted owing to fickle weather. According to UC Nazim Sheikh Azizur Rahman, Mr Bokhari stated before the convener that he wanted to meet and discuss the matter with the parents of accused Faisal Shahzad Ghoraya, whose fake death certificate was issued by the union council and sent to a sessions court in Karachi by his uncle.
The UC Nazim told Dawn that he had learnt that Faisal Shahzad was serving the National Highway and Motorway Police, but was not unaware of his place of posting.
