FAISALABAD, Aug 10: DPO Muhammad Amin Wains on Tuesday suspended from service four policemen, including a sub-inspector for their failure to perform 'security duty' with the Punjab Assembly speaker.

Reports said Muhammad Afzal Sahi visited Faisalabad on Monday night to attend a marriage. The police deputed SI Tauheed Ahmed and constables Liaqat Ali, Allah Yar and Iqbal Ahmed for protocol and security.

But they failed to perform their duties after which the speaker complained to DIG Abid Saeed. The DPO suspended the four officials and ordered an inquiry.

ARRESTED: Police arrested a villager on charges of raping and killing a girl on Tuesday in Chak 49-GB, about 45km from here. Reports said some days ago Jafar Iqbal invited a girl of his relatives to his house for some domestic work.

He murdered the girl after rape and later buried her in the courtyard of his house. On mysterious disappearance of the girl, her relatives approached Tarkhani police. Confessing crime, Jafar recovered the body.
