BAHAWALPUR, Aug 12: Investigation into alleged issuance of the fake death certificate of an under-trial dacoit is in a crucial stage, as the three-member committee has served notice on the accused's uncle to record his evidence on Monday.
Faisal Shahzad Goraya, who allegedly committed a dacoity along with a gang in Karachi, was declared dead by his uncle Shabbir who sent the fake death certificate to a sessions court in Karachi to avoid trial. The certificate was allegedly attested by Union Council No 5 councillor Mehtab Bokhari.
It is learnt that the inquiry process had been expedited after the reminder of the Karachi court to UC Nazim Azizur Rahman to confirm whether Shabbir's claim was true.
The UC Nazim reportedly held an emergency consultation with his colleagues and members of the inquiry team after receiving the reminder. During the meeting, the UC legal adviser was also summoned and his legal opinion was sought on the matter with particular reference to the court's reminder.
On his advice, the committee has sent a notice to Faisal's uncle at his residence at Abbasia Town. The councillor is on the run. The committee is also learnt to have decided to contact the stamp vendor, who had written the affidavit. His statement is likely to be recorded soon.
