HYDERABAD, Aug 18: The Sindh National Council at a meeting here on Wednesday condemned a resolution of the Sindh Assembly allowing outsiders to obtain computerized national identity cards.

Punhal Sario presided over the meeting which was attended by Hussain Bux Thebo, Dr Dodo Mahiri, Dr Raheem Solangi, Chacha Mohammad Ali Leghari, Akram Soomro and Aijaz Solangi.

The meeting observed that the resolution was aimed at converting the indigenous people into a minority and depriving them of their inherent right to live in their own homeland.

The meeting criticized the role of People's Party, saying the party's feudal members have never ever struggled for the rights of Sindh. It urged the people of Sindh to elect their representatives from the middle class instead of illiterate feudal lords.

The meeting was of the view that on the land of Shah Latif, fundamentalists and racists have always created lawlessness and terrorism. It alleged that illegal immigrants from Afghanistan and Bangladesh after converting their own countries into a living hell, were now trying to disturb peace in Sindh.

The council called upon the people of Sindh to rise to the occasion and pull together for their rights in accordance with the 1940 resolution. The meeting demanded that the rights of sale and purchase of properties be exclusively given to the indigenous people and the decision to give citizenship to aliens be withdrawn.

Referring to the announcement by Gen Pervez Musharraf that he would undertake a tour of smaller provinces to muster support for the construction of Kalabagh dam and Bhasha dam, the SNC said the people would wear black armbands and stage protest demonstrations on his visit to Sindh.
