MULTAN, Aug 18: Four members of a family were gunned down in the Lodhran district over an old enmity on Wednesday. Reports reaching here revealed that two brothers - Nawaz and Allah Yar - had developed differences over property some five years ago. Rivalry had claimed five lives, three of those women, prior to the fresh incident.

Muhammad Nawaz was on his way to district courts along with his nephews, Abdul Razzaq and Abdul Basit, when they were allegedly ambushed on the Haveli Naseer Khan Road by Allah Yar's sons and their accomplices Sarfraz, Riaz, Saleem, Shabbir and Saddiq. They were shot dead.

The assailants later reached the farm of deceased Nawaz and gunned down his son, Rafi, who was working there. The alleged culprits fled away towards Bahawalpur. However, the Lodhran police with the help of Bahawalpur police successfully chased them and rounded up Sarfraz, Riaz, Saleem and Shabbir. Sadiq was at large till last reports came in.
