HYDERABAD, Aug 20: An amount of Rs182 million has been earmarked by the district government to undertake new development schemes in the district. This was decided at a meeting of the annual development programme chaired by District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman here on Thursday.

The nazim said Rs100 million had been earmarked for new development schemes upto cost of Rs0.9 million in each union council of the district. He directed the EDO works and services to get proposals of development schemes from each union council by Sept 15.

He said the work order for these schemes would be issued in October so that the schemes could be completed by the end of the current financial year. The nazim directed to the EDO to prepare proposals of development schemes upto cost of Rs10 million for each talukas with the consultation of taluka nazims concerned.

He said funds for the schemes would be made available from the amount of Rs82 million which had lapsed the last year. He said the Sindh government had agreed to revalidate it and make available to the district government.

The nazim withdrew the sanctioned amount of Rs60 million previously allocated for the construction of Mirpurkhas bypass road as the scheme had been taken in hand by the Sindh government. He directed officials concerned to prepare proposals for the utilization of amount on the construction of asphalt concrete roads of the city.

The nazim also withdrew the sanctioned amount of Rs60 million for the construction of the Shaikh Bharkyo road and directed the office concerned to utilize the amount on other new development schemes within Hyderabad rural taluka.

It was decided that the scheme of dual-carriage road from Hala Nako to Ghanghro Mori would be got implemented from the Sindh government. It was informed that out of 259 ongoing development schemes carried out by the district government upto the cost of Rs3.7 million for each union council, 204 schemes had so far been completed while the work on remaining 55 schemes was in progress.

Discussing another portfolio of development schemes upto cost of Rs1.3 million for each union council, the nazim directed authorities concerned to issue the work order within the shortest possible time and get these schemes completed by the end of Feb 2005.
