MOSCOW, Sept 7: Russian and Pakistani leaders Vladimir Putin and Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday agreed to intensify their governments' efforts in the fight against terrorism following the Beslan siege.
In telephone consultations initiated by Islamabad, the presidents "confirmed a mutual desire to step up joint efforts to eradicate international terrorism and suppress sources of its financing", a Kremlin spokesman said.
Gen Musharraf sent condolences to Putin and the Russian people over the deaths of at least 335 hostages and security personnel in the recent events in North Ossetia. -dpa
