HYDERABAD, Sept 15: A group of students of the Sindh University Jamshoro, known as Kalafi (starched) comrades, beat up the contractor and employees of the central canteen of the university, creating panic on the campus.

When they attacked the canteen, over 100 customers, who were having dinner, ran helter-skelter without making payment. The 'comrades' deprived the contractor of Rs12,000 cash and a mobile telephone.

The Jamshoro police registered an FIR under section 147, 148, 149, 403, 427, 504 PPC on the complaint of contractor, Mansoor Soomro. The police said Zain 'Gun', Ayaz Unnar, Sana Mugheri, Idris Mahar, Aijaz Unnar, Sudhir Tunio, Amir Lakhir and six other unidentified persons were involved in the attack.

In another incident, some students of the Liaquat Medical University were injured in a clash between two groups in the admission branch over depositing MBBS admission forms on Tuesday. A man, Syed Musharraf Ali, reportedly received injuries and was admitted to the university hospital.
