HYDERABAD, Sept 16: The district health authorities in a communication addressed to the Sindh health secretary have expressed alarm over the spread of Hepatitis-B and C in union council Odero Lal Station, Matiari taluka.

The EDO health said a total number of 800 villagers were screened upto Wednesday of which blood samples of 203 people were found infected with Hepatitis virus. He said 98 people were found hepatitis-B positive and 105 hepatitis-C positive. He said 25 per cent of screened people were infected with hepatitis-B and C.

HILL STATION: Scientists of the Sindh University will visit the Gorakh hill station in the Khirthar mountain in Dadu district. This was decided in a high-level meeting of the university here on Tuesday.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, presided over the meeting. The scientists will collect plants, fossils and other natural things for preservation and research.

They will also prepare a report regarding required and possible facilities for tourists at Sindh's only hill station. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Siddiqui invited views of scientists from departments of geology, geography and freshwater biology.

The meeting agreed that scientists should pay visit to the Gorakh hill and collect fossils and plants available there for palaeontoligical, anthropological and geological research.

It was also suggested in the meeting that scientists' finding might be preserved and displayed in museums of Sindh. The meeting decided that a detailed lecture would also be organized on findings of scientists to create interest among students.

It was also decided that scientists who will visit Gorakh hill station would also prepare a feasibility report to provide possible facilities for tourists from the government side.
