SWABI, Sept 19: The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology will hold a three-day all Pakistan software, multimedia, quiz and speed programming competition (Soft com 2004) from Sept 23 to 25.

A spokesman for the institute told reporters on Sunday that Softcom 2004 would provide opportunities to contestants to exhibit their skills in the field of computer sciences and technology.

He said each year the institute has been organizing such competitions. The competition, he said, was expected to attract over 200 students from 30 leading universities/institutes of the faculty of computer science and various disciplines of engineering.

The spokesman said the winning teams would be awarded cash prizes. The first prize of the software competition would be Rs50,000 and the second prize would Rs25,000. The rapid emergence, he said, of multimedia has forced the organizers of the event to include the multimedia competition category.

He said the animation competition prize would Rs25,000; web related competition Rs15,000; and the interactive CD competition would Rs15,000.
