JACOBABAD/SUKKUR: Goods train derails

JACOBABAD/SUKKUR, Sept 19: Eight coaches of a goods train, carrying wheat, derailed between the Chachar and Chang railway stations, near Garhi Khairo in Jacobabad district on Sunday morning.

The train was on its way to Jacobabad from Usta Mohammad. The cause of the derailment could not be ascertained. When contacted, the deputy controller, Pakistan Railways, Sukkur, said the railway track had been damaged in the accident.

He said railway staff had reached the spot and started rescue work, which would take two to three days. The divisional superintendent, Pakistan Railways, Sukkur, and the deputy divisional superintendent were not available at the headquarters for their comment. Sukkur DSP Shafi Mohammad Mughal said the district and railway police had also reached the scene.
