BAHAWALPUR, Sept 20: The Ahmedpur East judicial magistrate on Monday issued arrest warrants for 11 PML-N officer-bearers for their continuous absence from court in a demonstration case.

The accused included two former national assembly candidates Ramzan Janjua and Shahzad Jamil. They had protested against overthrowing of the Nawaz government on Oct 12, 1999. The judge directed the police to arrest the accused and produce them in court within a fortnight.

CASE: The Uch Sharif police on Monday registered a murder case against the two accused after recovering the body of a six-year-old girl. The police said that accused Younus and Ajmal had allegedly murdered Samreena, gouged her eyes out and removed her golden ear-rings some three days back.

To conceal their crime, the accused concealed her body under the heap of grass. On the suspicion of her parents, the police took them into their custody. During interrogation, both the accused confessed to their crime.

SEIZED: Sadar police on Monday claimed to have recovered 1,200 gram heroin and 150 gram hashish from a house near the railway station after a raid.The police also arrested accused Nadeem Murtaza while his accomplice Mastan Khan managed to escape from the scene.

DIES: The wife of Chaudhry Masood Majeed of Majeed Group of Industries, Bahawalpur, and daughter-in-law of former MPA and MC mayor Chaudhry Abdul Majid died here today. Scores of people attended her funeral prayers. She was buried in the local graveyard.
