MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Sept 20: People are again pinning high hopes for the development of the area as Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will visit the city on Tuesday.

Last year, Mr Elahi during his visit had said that the Chaudhry family considered Mandi Bahauddin its second home and would leave no stone unturned to solve problems of the area.

The chief minister had promised to release Rs1.5 billion for different projects, but not a single plan was executed till date. The projects included Malikwal-MB Din Road, construction of Kuthiala-Phalia Road, establishment of some colleges, upgradation of Rasool Technology and Engineering College to university level, introduction of BSc classes at government girls college for women and setting up of a DHQ hospital.

The chief minister had also announced Rs2.5 million for the construction of press club building and allotment of one-kanal land for this purpose but development in this regard is still being awaited.

Provision of natural gas is another demand of the local people and as per schedule, Mr Elahi will inaugurate gas supply at Chuma Chowk. Citizens also want a non-stop train from Mandi Bahauddin to Lahore and a passport office.
