BAHAWALPUR, Oct 1: Teachers of a local college boycotted on Friday the marking of answer sheets of intermediate supplementary examination candidates for not increasing their honorarium by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

Punjab Lecturers Association office-bearers and secretary-general Prof Anwar Nadeem alleged that BISE Chairman Ms Bilqees Ikram had not only refused to increase the honorarium, but also adopted an insulting attitude towards them.

They said they would not check papers until their honorarium was increased and the board chairman tendered an apology about her insulting attitude towards the teachers.

COLLEGE: The district Nazim on Friday inaugurated the Yazman Degree College for Girls. District Nazim Tariq Cheema and tehsil Nazim Abdul Jabbar said the BSc classes in the college would start next year. They said a financial grant of Rs14 million had been received from the Punjab government for the college which would be built on an area of 100 kanals.
