KHAIRPUR, Oct 1: The irrigation department has announced a water rotation programme for the Khairpur West Feeder and Nara Canal from October 1 to 15 because of water shortage in the River Indus.

Mature crops of cotton, sugarcane and paddy in Kingri, Gambat, Khairpur and Sobhodero talukas will be affected by the water rotation plan for the Khairpur West Feeder. Similarly, water rotation programme for the Nara Canal will have a negative impact on crops in Rohri, Nara, Khipro and some other parts of Tharparkar and Sanghar districts.

Meanwhile, normal water supply to the Khairpur East Feeder (Mirwah Canal) has been suspended since Thursday without any schedule and the canal is flowing only two to three feet of water for the tail-end area of Faiz Ganj.
