GUJRANWALA, Oct 3: City tehsil council Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad on Sunday restored the sub-committees and executive powers of its heads (Naib Nazims) which were dissolved by the tehsil municipal officer two days ago following declaring them illegal.

Speaking at a meeting of Nazims in his office here on Sunday, he said the bodies had been constituted under the by-laws following an approval of the house while the Naib Nazims were performing in accordance with the law.

He urged the public representatives to serve the people and redress their problems regarding cleanliness in the city. The Nazims and Naib Nazims besides councillors of various union councils and senior officials of the city tehsil council were also present in the meeting.

Five robberies: Dacoits looted cash and valuables from two houses, a bakery and a car-riding family and took away a motorcycle in five strikes in and around the city here on Sunday.

Reports said four outlaws entered Boota's house in Rahwali. They held up the inmates and took away jewellery, Rs12,000 and other valuables. Three dacoits sneaked into the house of Bashir Ahmad in Ghulshan Colony and took away Rs50,000, a mobile phone, wrist watches and other items. Three robbers entered into a bakery in Model Town.

They looted Rs60,000 from the owner, three cell phones, cash from customers and took away guard's gun.Four bandits intercepted a car-riding family of Ali Raza near Banke Cheema village on the Ghakkhar-Ahmadnagar Road.

They made off with Rs10,000, a mobile phone and jewellery from women and drove away with the vehicle (LXL-7722). Meanwhile, two robbers deprived Haji Muhammad Yaqoob of Wahando of his motorcycle (GAL-4385) at gunpoint when he was on way his village from the city on Eminabad Wahando Road.
